# Responsibilities Tasks - Operate woodworking machines, such as mechanical saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form pieces and components - Shape the surfaces or edges of wood pieces using hand tools, such as planes, chisels or wood files - Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be manufactured - Plane joints, assemble pieces and partial assemblies to constitute a piece of furniture and reinforce joints - Sand wood surfaces and apply to finished articles a coating, stain or polish; prepare and apply laminated plastics - Apply to finished articles a coating, stain or polish - Maintain a clean and safe work environment
