Responsibilities Tasks Inspect and test mechanical components to locate defects and imperfections Conduct road tests on motor vehicles Test automotive systems and components Adjust, repair or replace defective parts or components of various vehicle systems Adjust, repair or replace parts and components of heavy truck systems Repair or replace mechanical components or assemblies Test repaired systems and adjust them according to manufacturer specifications Estimate the cost of parts and labour for vehicle maintenance and repair Perform periodic maintenance operations Test and adjust components according to specifications Discuss with customers the operations performed and repairs that will need to be done in the future Complete reports to document defects and work performed Qualifications Qualifications (certificates, licences, affiliations, courses, etc.) Automotive Technician/Technician Certificate of Qualification Additional Information Transportation and Travel Information Possesses means of transportation Valid driver's licence Able to drive manual transmission vehicles Work Conditions and Physical Abilities Eye-hand coordination Attention to detail Standing for long periods Possess tools and equipment Tools Steel-toed shoes or boots Personal Qualities Precise Reliable Team spirit Benefits Health Benefits Dental care plan Health care plan Financial Benefits Group insurance Life insurance Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) Other Benefits Free parking available
