# Responsibilities Tasks Inspect and test cable signals and associated equipment Repair cable signals Test shared networks Diagnose and locate equipment failures and adjust, replace or repair telecommunications equipment Monitor the operation of telecommunications equipment Install, set up, remove and maintain telephone equipment, cables and related hardware parts Repair or replace defective telephone equipment Verify installed telephone networks to locate transmission interruptions Analyze test results and adjust, modify or repair connection systems, networks and related equipment and software Complete test reports and maintain up-to-date test and service records Establish the nature, cause and location of the failure Install electromechanical, analog and digital connection systems, circuits and equipment in telephone exchanges and switching centers Use computerized test systems to perform service tests on subscriber lines and equipment Connect, disconnect and relocate jacks Install cable modems and Internet access software Maintain and repair overhead and underground cable distribution lines Repair or replace cables, power supply equipment and defective amplifiers # Qualifications Credential titles (certificates, licenses, affiliations, courses, etc.) Communications electrician/electrician qualification certificate # Additional Information Working conditions and physical abilities Fast-paced work environment Tight deadlines Attention to detail Colour distinction Sitting, standing and walking Bending, crouching, kneeling Manual dexterity # Personal qualities Leadership qualities Customer-focused attitude Effective interpersonal relations Excellent oral communication Excellent written communication Flexibility Initiative Judgment Reliable Teamwork Accurate Sense of responsibility
