Work Environment Dusty work environment Various work locations Responsibilities Tasks Plan or modify routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) or other navigation devices to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions Professionalism in customer service Drive trucks or articulated units to transport goods or materials Monitor vehicle condition and perform inspection of tires, lights, brakes, refrigerated storage equipment and other equipment Inspect trucks before, during and after the trip and monitor all aspects of vehicles Receive and transmit information to central dispatcher Record information on cargo, service hours, distances traveled and fuel consumption Tarp and ensure cargo safety and security Required Qualifications Qualifications (certificates, licenses, affiliations, courses, etc.) Authorization to use air brakes Category 1/1F/A license (semi-trailers) Category 5/5F/G license (cars, small trucks and other 2-axle vehicles) Driver's license (Class 1 or A) Experience and Specialization Documentary Knowledge Accident and incident report Bill of lading Driver's logbook Inspection report (pre-departure, en route and post-trip) Type of trucking and equipment Dump truck Carrier truck over 4,600 kg or 10,000 lb with 3+ axles Semi-trailer tractor Communication systems experience Citizens band radio Experience in transportation/movement Local Short distance Additional Information Safety and Security Driver's license validation Driving record check Transportation and travel information Manual transmission vehicle operation Possess means of transportation Possess a vehicle Valid driver's license Work Conditions and Physical Abilities Attention to detail Sedentary work Possess tools and equipment Cell phone Safety helmet Steel-toed shoes or boots Personal Qualities Effective interpersonal relations Excellent oral communication Flexibility Judgment Organizational skills Reliable Team player Diligent Patience Benefits Financial Benefits Piece rate Other benefits Free parking available Parking available
