Responsibilities Tasks Clean and disinfect items such as dishwasher racks, carts and garbage disposals Remove and clean tables, trays and chairs Put dishes away in their designated place Disinfect dishes and other items and wash them by hand Scrub pots and pans Wrap takeout food Divide groceries into portions and wrap them Prepare and heat simple dishes Serve food to customers at the counter or at the buffet table Fill refrigerators and salad bars Take customer orders Use manual and electric appliances to clean, peel, slice and cut food Clean and disinfect the kitchen, work stations, cabinets, storage areas and equipment Handle cleaning products and store them Receive, unpack and store groceries in refrigerators, freezers, cabinets and other storage Dispose of waste and garbage and empty trash cans Sharpen kitchen knives Sweep, wipe, wash, wax and polish floors Wash, peel and cut vegetables and fruits
