Sous Chef

Responsibilities Tasks

Keep records on food costs, consumption and sales and maintain inventory
Explain new culinary techniques and new equipment to kitchen staff
Supervise the work of specialized chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen employees
Teach cooks food preparation, cooking, garnishing and food presentation
Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods for events such as banquets
Prepare and cook food for special guests or special occasions
Order food and kitchen supplies
Plan and direct activities related to food preparation and cooking in multiple restaurants
Create menus and ensure food quality meets standards
Supervise the activities of sous chefs, specialized chefs, chefs and cooks
Train staff in food preparation, cooking and handling
